How the ferag.skymove plate chain conveyor works
ferag.skymove uses a carrier chain mounted on low-friction rollers running in a steel profile. Conveying plates transport items continuously at speeds up to 1.5 m/s. The chain navigates curves, inclines, and level changes in all three dimensions — making it suitable for complex building geometries without the need for additional transfer equipment.
Because the system requires only a few drives over long distances, it is highly economical to operate. Rolling friction keeps energy consumption, noise levels, and wear consistently low throughout the system lifecycle. The modular design allows extensions and reconfigurations without replacing existing infrastructure.
The system handles material flow wherever continuous conveying, 3D routing, and multi-industry flexibility are required:
- Incoming goods and internal distribution in warehouses and distribution centers
- Order picking, consignment, and sorting
- End-of-line processes: packing, palletising, and dispatch
- Linkages between production processes in manufacturing environments
- Waste disposal feeds including cardboard removal
- Food & Beverage, Fashion & Apparel, Electronics, Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Industrial applications
ferag.skymove connects to any WMS, WCS, or ERP via standard interfaces. The integrated material flow controller (MFC) manages real-time routing and visualisation. Item identification runs via barcode, RFID, or camera recognition. Feeders, pushers, and dischargers are configurable depending on the goods being conveyed.

Why system integrators specify ferag.skymove
Solution architects choose ferag.skymove when a project requires a single, continuous plate chain conveyor that spans large facilities, handles a wide load range, and replaces multiple subsystems without transfer points.
One system for the full load range. With nominal widths of 300 mm and 400 mm, ferag.skymove covers everything from light production linkages to heavy-duty distribution center conveying — up to 50 kg per metre. Integrators can standardise on one conveyor platform across different project types and load requirements.
Minimal drives for maximum distance. The system requires only a few drives over very long conveying distances, significantly reducing electrical infrastructure complexity, maintenance points, and operating costs for the end customer.
3D routing without transfer points. The carrier chain routes continuously across curves, inclinations up to 10°, and multiple building levels. Fewer transfer points mean fewer failure modes, simpler commissioning, and lower maintenance overhead — arguments that directly support the total cost of ownership case.
Proven at scale. Auchan operates 1,980 metres of ferag.skymove across 33 retail locations. Zalando uses it for cardboard disposal in high-throughput e-commerce fulfilment. These references demonstrate performance at the scale integrators need to justify technology selection to end customers.
WMS-independent, API-ready integration. Standard interfaces connect to any WMS, WCS, or ERP. Integrators retain full flexibility in software architecture while the integrated MFC provides centralised control over material flow.

ferag.skymove is a plate chain conveyor system for continuous, high-capacity material flow in complex intralogistics environments. Based on a carrier chain running on low-friction rollers, it routes continuously across curves, inclines, and multiple building levels — without transfer points and with minimal drive requirements.
System integrators specify ferag.skymove across a wide range of applications: from compact production linkages to large-scale distribution centers spanning long distances. The system is available in two nominal widths — 300 mm and 400 mm — covering load requirements from light goods up to 50 kg per metre.
A plate chain conveyor system transports items continuously on a chain fitted with flat plates, running on low-friction rollers. ferag.skymove is a plate chain conveyor capable of 3D routing — across curves, inclines, and multiple building levels — without transfer points. It is available in two nominal widths (300 mm and 400 mm) to cover load requirements from light production linkages up to 50 kg per metre in large distribution centers.
ferag.skymove 300 features a 300 mm nominal width with curve radii down to 750 mm — ideal for compact 3D layouts, tight spaces, and food or cleanroom environments. ferag.skymove 400 features a 400 mm nominal width with higher load capacity up to 50 kg per metre and speeds up to 1.5 m/s — suited for heavy-duty applications and long conveying distances. Both share the same rolling friction technology and WMS integration logic and can be combined in the same facility.
ferag.skymove is deployed in Food & Beverage, E-Commerce & Retail, Fashion & Apparel, Electronics, Pharmaceutical, Packaging, and Industrial Processes. Reference customers include Auchan (1,980 metres across 33 locations) and Zalando (cardboard disposal in e-commerce fulfilment).
Yes. ferag.skymove is built on a modular architecture that allows extensions, additional sections, and reconfigurations without replacing existing infrastructure. This makes it suitable for phased investments and growing operations.
ferag.deniway and ferag.easychain have been unified into a single product line under the name ferag.skymove. The ferag.skymove 400 configuration corresponds to the former ferag.deniway, while ferag.skymove 300 corresponds to ferag.easychain. All technical specifications, performance characteristics, and application areas remain unchanged.
