Project Challenge
- Optimizing the automatic sorting process to boost efficiency
- Processing a wide range of formats and shapes
- Keeping the footprint small, using available space efficiently
- Maintaining an ergonomic working height
- Ensuring the system can be developed further
The ferag.skysort solution
Ferag routed the ferag.skysort tilt-tray sorter in a circular layout, so the full 205-metre sorting line fits inside MyBox Logistics’ existing footprint rather than requiring extra floor space. Individual trays carry shoes and fashion items of very different shapes and sizes, tilting automatically at the correct discharge point. Because the carrier chain routes in three dimensions, the layout keeps every workstation at an ergonomic height without forcing a redesign of the surrounding building.
Results
The ferag.skysort installation now sorts shoes and fashion products for over 400 stores across Europe plus all of MyBox Logistics’ e-commerce orders, all on a single circular line. The compact footprint freed up space for other operations, and the modular design leaves room to add further sorting destinations as order volumes grow. The same compact sorting system for shoes and fashion adapts just as well to other footwear and apparel distribution centres.
